Toyota Avensis

The Avensis model replaced the popular Carina in 1997, and its second generation came out at the end of 2002. Similarly to its predecessor, this car was designed at the European Toyota Development Center and produced in Great Britain. This modern, middle-class vehicle comes in a 4- or 5-door and estate body version. The range of power plants includes the well-known 1.6-liter 110 hp and the 1.8-liter 129 hp engines, as well as powerplants with direct fuel injection: a 2.0-liter 147 hp and a 2.4-liter 163 hp unit, the latter connected solely to the new, 5-speed automatic gearbox. Diesel engines with direct injection are also mounted: a common rail D-4D 2.0-liter 116 hp engine, a 2.2-liter 150 hp unit, or a 2.2-liter 177 hp plant. Since 2003, the Avensis sedan and the Wagon estate have also been sold in Japan, with 4x2 or 4x4 drive and a 2.0-liter 155 hp engine.
